Did you miss the first lobster & steak dinner? Join us on August 3!

On Friday, July 19th, SALT hosted its inaugural Surf & Turf Dinner at the Schoharie Presbyterian church. The turnout was great with over 120 dinners served and the lobster was even better.

"It was an incredible deal, we had enough food leftover for another meal, and the lobster was delicious," diner and Middleburgh resident Marilyn Wyman shared.

Volunteers from SALT and the Lawyersville & Sharon Reformed Churches led by Michael Vamvas and Pastor Pacia Vamvas pitched in to cook and serve the meals. Over $1,600 was raised for ongoing flood recovery efforts. The kitchen was crowded and sweltering in the summer heat, but that didn’t stop volunteers from cooking and diners from enjoying the savory lobster, clam, shrimp, corn, baked potato, green salad and watermelon feast.

“It always feels good to give back! I’ve been a part of the church community for a while, and it just feels natural to want to go and volunteer my time. We always have a good time!” said one young volunteer.  Read more
